The Iranian Society of Cardiac Surgeons was established in 1997 with the aim of promoting scientific and research activities to preserve and improve public health and to enhance the scientific knowledge of its esteemed members. Since its founding, in addition to its professional activities, the society has conducted numerous scientific and research initiatives, including organizing congresses, seminars, and scientific conferences, as well as implementing research projects and publishing educational journals such as the Iranian Journal of Cardiac Surgery — a quarterly English-language publication with a circulation of 2,500 copies that has received research accreditation. Recently, the journal’s name was changed to Multidisciplinary Cardiovascular Annals, and its format was updated to meet international standards.

To date, the Iranian Society of Cardiac Surgeons has successfully organized 110 bi-monthly scientific conferences and 15 international Iranian Cardiovascular Congresses, which are held biennially. The society strives to fulfill its role as a scientific and research organization, contributing effectively to the advancement of cardiac surgery education, treatment, and research in the country, and to the continuous professional development of cardiac surgeons.
